Pre-Apprentice Bricklaying and Plastering Competition 2018.
The Incorporation held its annual Brick laying and Plastering competition at City of Glasgow College this year. They had an excellent turnout with students representing City of Glasgow College, Glasgow Kelvin College and South Lanarkshire College.
Each year the hosting college supplies all the materials and backup support and as normal this was to the highest standard. The students are on a first year pre-apprentice type of course and have tried out different aspects of construction. The Incorporation non-construction members are always amazed and delighted by the high standard of workmanship and accuracy achieved by the competitors, and this year was no different.
The winning students will be invited to attend the Deacon’s Choosing Dinner in September and to bring along a friend or family member to the Dinner where they will receive a well-deserved cheque to the value of £100, a gold coloured medal and an Incorporation Certificate. Often the certificate is the most important prize as this can be used in their C.V.s when applying for employment in the construction industry.
Below are a few photographs of the competition and the work of the students.
