Why become a member?

Summary of benefits of membership of the Incorporation of Masons of Glasgow
As a member of the Incorporation of Masons of Glasgow you will be directly supporting apprentices and tradespeople in their crafts and also people who are in need of financial support by the craft to make their lives better.   Other social benefits include:
a.    Membership of the Incorporation of Masons
b.    You become a Burgess of the City of Glasgow
c.    You receive an Incorporation of Masons' tie or in the case of ladies a small lapel badge
d.    An invitation to the Pear Eating event prior to the Deacon’s Choosing Dinner
e.    An Invitation to The Deacon’s Choosing Dinner
f.     An invitation to a number of Incorporation events
g.    The opportunity to become a member of the Master Court and to shape and guide the Incorporation
h.    The  opportunity to play any of the following as a representative of the Masons:
       i.       Bowling                   
      ii.       Curling
     iii.       Fishing
     iv.       Golf

Membership is open to ladies and gentlemen and you do not have to have a direct connection to the trades, just a desire to help them.
 
Near-Hand Membership
The parties entitled, subject always to the Incorporations regulations, to enter at the Near-Hand shall be the wives, husbands, sons, daughters, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law of members. 

Far-Hand Membership
Entry to Far-Hand membership is available to all other people.

Age of Application
The ages of Applicants shall always be reckoned as at the birthday next ensuing after the date of the Meeting at which their entry is carried through and in the event of parties not being able to furnish official Certificates of Birth certifying their ages it shall be in the discretion of the Master-Court to require such proof of the fact as may be considered reasonable in the circumstances. 
 

Cost of Membership
The cost for each application is as follows:

Near-Hand
Up to age 40 £85.00
Over age 40 £100.00

Far Hand 
Up to age 40 £100.00
Over age 40 £120.00
 
An Incorporation tie, or equivalent, shall be awarded free of charge to all new Members.
