John Dew is originally from Crieff and has been piping since he was 10 years old. He competes in many solo competitions and last October won the National Mod contest held in Glasgow in 2019. He also plays with the world championship winning Inveraray and District Pipe Band and is now in his fourth year of studies at the Royal Conservatoire. He played the border pipes and Irish whistle.
Dylan Cairns is originally from Aberystwyth in Wales, and has been an active member of the Glasgow session scene. He too, is in his final year of studies and is currently working on his debut album. Tonight he accompanied John on the acoustic guitar. The Merry Masons' evening was a huge success and the Deacon would like to express his thanks to everyone involved in making it such a good social event especially Past Deacon Iain Smith for arranging this entertainment. |
